I’m not quite sure what this blog will be. Right now it’s going to be a place of reflection for me, and I’ll see where it goes from there.

It’s been an interesting journey, professionally speaking. Eight years ago I was just out of college and working for a nonprofit organization. I completely believed in what the organization stood for and was so inspired by its growth and success, but I hated my role in it. Still, it was a struggle to leave that position. It didn’t pay well but I felt like I was contributing to my community and making a difference in some small way.

Art school just felt so . . . selfish.

But to art school I went. And I loved it. I studied animation, and I’m transitioning into producing (more on that in a different post). I love the world that I live in and I’m proud to be a part of it. Animators, directors, riggers, programmers, designers, writers – the combined talent, creativity, knowledge and passion, people just doing what they love to do, is what keeps me going.

I need periodic reminders that I belong here, and that I’m exactly where I should be. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
